The dress featured a silver, horseshoe-shaped fate talisman. In ancient England there was a tradition that the bride should wear a horseshoe ribbon, which was considered a symbol of a good feature.

At the wedding table there was always so-called "wedding cake" called "fruit cake" and it was made of cherry, almonds, raisins and more. The top layer of this cake is called "baptism cake", which was kept until their first child's baptism. Visitors were invited to the so-called "Bridegroom cake".

As for the party, there is one fun tradition here called "ribbon pull". The bridesmaids and groomsmen wrap a ribbon around the wedding cake before the couples split the first piece of cake.

Another wedding tradition dates back to old times, but nowadays we find it in a different way. A few centuries ago, after a church wedding ceremony English guests were throwing shoes at the horse-drawn where the groom and the bride were supposed to be. It was a belief that marriage would be successful. According to modern tradition, the shooting of shoes has been replaced by shoelace tying.

In England people think that if it rains on a wedding day, it is a very good sign, linked to the belief that the couple will be fortunate and their marriage will last long.
