2,000 years ago, this wedding accessory was worn by Roman women, which meant that they were immaculate before a wedding. Bridegroom had no right to remove the veil, until the wedding ritual was over.
The white veil was later established by Europe in the 18th century. According to Slavic tradition, the bride should have a red napkin wrapped on the veil, protecting her against the evil eye.
The style of the veil also tells us a lot about the nature of the bride. Veil and train are selected by purposeful, balanced brides: layered veil is the choice of quiet women, and lace veil is for strong brides with strong willpower.
